Slightly Off KIlter

Normal is overrated

Weekly Wrap-up ( Monday Aug 16 – Sunday Aug 22)

The weather has been mostly warm this week. It even got hot in the car one day! I moved the car to a shadier part of the parking lot.

Rich was out of town last Thursday – the weekend but he got home in time for supper Monday night. Our favorite diner had Mahi Mahi (the one fish I'll eat an entire plate of). Poor Rich had managed to crack his knee on a rock on Saturday; it took him longer to get home because he kept stopping to walk around and loosen his sore knee.

The Company hosted a Customer Advisory Board meeting as well as an Analyst Day early in the week. There were customers and analysts on site all day Monday and Tuesday, mostly in the training room but also touring the site and having lunch. A note was sent to all employees asking "Please be charming if you talk to them."

Charming?! I suppose… then again, perhaps a note should have been sent to Engineering that said, instead, "Please try to stay out of their way" 🙂

I bought a cool keyboard "table" from levenger.com. The thing is not cheap but it's quite nice. Unfortunaately, the mechanical parts aren't as well made as the rest of it. Sigh. The tilt adjustment needed a lot of WD-40 and Harry Homeowner managed to accidentally discombobulate the height adjustment while he was giving me a new (and wider-sprea) base. But it's all OK now.

The Company sent out a survey on Tuesday. I had a lot of fun filling it out (and adding additional comments at the end). I approve of surveys that have a final "What else do you want to tell us that we didn't ask about" section.

We're still eating peaches, aalthough the season is coming to a close. I made a peach and blueberry cobbler on Saturday (fresh peaches, frozen blueberries). On Sunday night, we finished it as compote (the biscuit part got soggy overnight so I pitched that).

I read Estate of Mind , by Tamar Myers and Gunpowder Green (the second in a series of "Teashop Mysteries" by Laura Childs). I like this one so I ordered the rest of the series (including book #1). I started Grime and Punishment by Jill Churchill and expect to read this series as well.

In between and around the rest, I've had several naps, good meals, interesting conversations with Spouse and friends, and snuggles with the cats. I've "chatted" with my Dad, kept my weblogs reasonably up to date, walked a bit on the treadmill, and managed to write checks, run a load of dishes, and do a couple of loads of laundry… and eat a lot of peaches.

Onward and Upward.
