The weather was fairly stable this week 🙂
Rich has been doing a bunch of weed whacking and general outdoor hacking and hewing. He trimmed the escalonia hedge between our house and the next door neighbor. Then he took out a lot of Scotch Broom and removed a bunch of dead branches from the piney woods in the back 40. We've filled the "green" trash bin twice now.
I ordered a set of Oneida Barcelona pattern soup spoons from a restaurant supply place. We used these at a favorite restaurant recently (they've gotten all new flatware) and I really liked them. Unfortunately, what arrived wasn't what I expected. I called customer service for a return and they suggested that perhaps I wanted the "boullion spoon" so I agreed and they sent me those.
The "boullion spoons" arrived later in the week and are pretty much what I had in mind. So now I have 2 dozen nice round soup spoons.
Rich tried some cookery experiments this week. First he tried a yam, chicken leg, and peach "casserole". That one needs some work. Then he tried a chili (I've been joking for years that we never have chili and aren't men supposed to be genetically programmed to be able to cook chili?). The chili turned out pretty good so we wrote the recipe into our "recipes that work" cookbook.
Thursday I discovered that poor Bebop had developed a nasty sore on his lip. He and Raven were both due for their annual checkups anyway so we made an appointment for Friday afternoon.
I took both boys in the next day. They were not pleased with the whole procedure as you might guess. Raven got his physical and vaccinations. Bebop got meds for his lip. Then we made a followup appointment for next Friday.
By Saturday night the swelling was way down on Bebop's lip and by Sunday night it was much much better. Hooray for medical science. Bebop, however, isn't happy about the twice daily antibiotics to ensure no residual infection.
Friday was also the day that Rich embarked on his Kitchen Sink Adventure. We got through that one pretty well – nothing broken, nobody hurt and not too much money spent.
Rich walked into the bedroom Saturday morning as I was getting up and said "There are web pages on all sorts of things. And then there are web pages on totally different things. I just read a web page on how to start a fire with a can of coke and a chocolate bar. I am not making this up".

There were two Black-headed Grosbeaks at the feeder on Sunday. Squirrel was excited.
This week I read Bad Business, by Robert B. Parker (a light but fun mystery); The Cat's Meow, by Emily Carmichael (a cute romance with a talking cat :-); and
Stardust of Yesterday, by Lynn Kurland (a modern-day ghost story romance).
In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've had a few chats with my Dad and exchanged email with my Mom.
During our chat on Saturday night, my Dad mentioned it might snow in Central PA overnight. The temps could get down to freezing. Yeeps! This is why we live in SF Bay Area California.
