Slightly Off KIlter

Normal is overrated

Weekly Wrap-up 2005__33

The weather was foggy a lot. Weird summer we're having.

On Monday, there was an adorable toddler puppy in the bank when I went in to make some deposits. His human had brought him in – too young to stay out front! I think this puppy might grow up to be a Golden retriever but right now he's just a puppy.

Another bank (from which I have a line of credit) has changed their statement system. To make it work better for them (emphasis on "them") they added 6 digits to the front of my account number. It now looks like a credit card number.

Unfortunately, it looks so much like a MasterCard number that their statement calculating program treated it like a MasterCard – including different rates for purchases vs cash advances and higher rates over all.

I telephoned The Bank. I explained. They "explained". I
explained further.

We finally got things straightened out. Apparently someone at The Bank had caught the mistake internally but not until after they printed and mailed the statements. So I'm not paying Credit Card interest (they also credited back the overage). But it was a grand snafu all around. This hasn't been a good month for banks.

Our network connection was flaky from Thursday through the weekend. On Friday, outbound networking was virtually unusable. At noon, I drove down to The Company and spent an hour in a conference room, working on some web pages I needed to update.

After a lot of testing, recabling, installing a new switch, more testing, trimming a bush in the front yard (we have a microwave antennae on the front porch), more testing and recabling and finally replacing a different switch, Rich got everything straightened out by Sunday night.

Saturday night we had a woodrat in the sunroom window (between the glass and the screen).
The cats were very attentive. >,,<

This week I read Body of Intuition and Strangled Intuition, the first and second "Karmic crime" mysteries by Claire Daniels. I also read Sit, Stay, Slay, by Linda O. Johnston, the first n a new series of "pet sitter" mysteries.
All three books were quite enjoyable, with main characters I like.

In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. I've had a few chats with my Dad and a phone conversation with both Mom & Dad (because our net was a mess they couldn't get their email!)

Onward and Upward.
