We've had a wet week… "And the rain rain rain came down down down…".
I had two interviews this week — one with an agency (for two possible jobs) and one with the hiring manager for one of those possible jobs. The interview went well, I thin, but the job is not my cup of tea… and I fear the company may be in a confused position right now (one tech writer and one tech pubs manager who've been there 2 months and 2 weeks respectively; new CEO and new VP of Eng. this year; a company wide plan to "get things back together"). No. Sorry. Have a good life y'all.
I also applied for a bunch more jobs. I don't expect to hear from anyone (if I do indeed hear from anyone) until January, however. Lots of people take one or both of these two weeks off.
I had a couple of very colorful, delightful dreams this week, including a delightful lucid dream with a fun sci-fi fantasy plot.
We tried a packaged mix for low-carb brownies. They were … weird. They were too dry and too fluffy and had an odd aftertaste. We think it may be because they used almond flour in the mix. Marzipan?
We gave them away.
Rich has decided to start using his weblog. He says that he's come to terms with what weblogs are good for and what he could use one for. So I gave him a demo of ecto and we discussed weblogs in general and Movable Type in particular.
I also installed some new Movable Type plugins and updated our style sheets and templates based on comments, suggestions, and requests from Rich. We're especially looking into ways to "hide" any posts that are still in "Draft" mode, yet make them available to selected people for review.
This week I read A Fistful of Sky, a very odd novel by Nina Kiriki Hoffman;
Them Bones, a mystery by Carolyn Haines;
and Die Laughing, the 12th Daisy Dalrymple cozy by Carola Dunn.
I also read Death of a Domestic Diva, the first in a newish series by Sharon Short. I plan to look for the other books in the series (two out with another due in January) the next time I'm at a bookstore.
In between and around the rest, I've had almost enough naps and plenty of snuggles with the cats. I've had a few chats with my Dad and a phone conversation (on Christmas night) with my Mom.
There have been good meals and interesting conversations with Spouse and friends. Rich did turkey thighs for sandwiches again (I never get tired of turkey sandwiches :-). He also made something I'm calling "stuffed chili burgers". The chopped green chilis are mixed into the hamburger, along with chopped onion, then the patties are wrapped around (stuffed with) jack cheese and cooked.
If you celebrate Christmas, I hope it was everything you hoped for. In any case, I wish you the joys of the season as we enter the last week of 2005.
Onward and Upward.
