To look backward for a while is to refresh the eye,
to restore it, and to render it the more fit
for its prime function of looking forward.
— Margaret Fairless Barber
Treasures are positive things that strike my fancy, that make me feel happy or thankful or interested. Treasures are memories encapsulated in just a few words.
These are my Treasures for the past week.
- A Sunny day!
- Huge tulips, almost as big as my two cupped hands, in front of a local restaurant
- A sunny afternoon with an azure sky (following a morning of rain rain rain)
- Interstate (spur) 280, which bills itself as "the world's most beautiful freeway" certainly lived up to its reputation today — verdant green rolling hills dotted liberally with cows — an egret — daffodils blooming in fluffy yellow profusion — pinkly blossoming trees in the center median — the bluest sky — whispy clouds around the edges.
- A thundering herd of wood rats running back&forth on the sunroom roof and giving Bebop loads of entertainment! (I want one! Can I get one?)
- A mousie, surprised inside the feeder when I went to fill it. oops!
- After he escaped and ran off, I poured in seed and — oh no! — surprised a second mousie I hadn't seen!. Bird seed is falling on my head. Eek!
- A delightful rainstorm that began shortly after Raven asked for snuggle time and continued as we napped.
