Treasures 2006_18

Develop an interest in life as you see it;
the people, things, literature, music —
the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures,
beautiful souls and interesting people.
Forget yourself.

— Henry Miller

Treasures are positive things that strike my fancy, that make me feel happy or thankful or interested. Treasures are memories encapsulated in just a few words.
These are my Treasures for the past week.

  • Someone test-driving a burgundy Scion XB just as I drove past the dealership. I hope they like it as much as I did when we did the test drive!

  • A hummingbird, at the level of the 2nd-floor screen porch. He'd shoot up, then hover, then sit on the telephone wire, then do it again.

  • A local florist's van with enormous tulips painted(?) on the sides and back. The tulips on the back overlap the bottom of the rear windows slightly – most interesting and effective.

  • Bright pink poppies, orange California poppies, and pale pink primroses — in the median and along the side of the road — on a drive through Stanford.

  • A good lunch – mesquite chicken salad and steak nachos — at a favorite "fresh Mex" restaurant.
