We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.
— Thornton Wilder
Treasures are positive things that strike my fancy, that make me feel happy or thankful or interested. Treasures are memories encapsulated in just a few words.
These are my Treasures for the past week.
- Bright orange trumpet vine intermingled with a dark red plum(?) tree. Stunning.
- Whole Foods Market. Wow. I wish we had one closer to our house.
- Fireworks!!! and more fireworks!
First the show at Stanford on the 3rd Awesome! We were right under it. Then, all of the fireworks in our neighborhood on the night of the 4th. They were pretty spectacular (although the cats weren't happy about the boombooms).
- Holding "hands" with Squirrel. He came and snuggled into bed behind my pillow and put out a paw to my hand under the edge of the pillow.
- Watching a tree squirrel at the feeder, eating sunflower seeds, one at a time. Nibblenibble.
- A re-furbed, rebuilt model-T (?) Ford; definitely a Ford and in the style, but with modern tires and appurtenances and a "regular" license plate. I think they took an old body and put it on a modern chassis and engine.
- Laura's Wholesome Junk Food oatmeal chocolate chip bite-lettes cookies
- A woodrat at the feeder! (He was munching sunflower seeds.)
- Squirrel's reaction to the woodrat at the feeder 😉
