Calendar Holder-Upper

In my office, I have a bookcase to the left of my desk. I have always hung a wall calendar on the side of the bookcase and I can see it from my desk. Unfortunately, the lower part of the calendar has been partially obscured by the "cat buckets" above my monitors. So, I asked Rich to help me figure out how to solve the problem.

How could I extend things so that the calendar hung in a position that made it easier to see?

I suggested a board. Rich countered with a strap hinge. We went to the hardware store and found a nice ornamental "tee hinge" which Rich bolted to the side of the bookcase.

That worked pretty well but the calendar hung down too low (in front of, and partially obscuring, another, smaller bookcase next to my desk. Now what?

Rich got innovative and disappeared into the workshop, returning with a bent piece of heavy wire (chain-link fence tie) and pair of washers (the larger with a notch filed in the back to hold the wire). Some attachment, a bit of adjustment, et voila! The calendar hangs from the bent wire which extends above the end of the bracket. The bottom of the calendar clears the small bookcase. The face of the calendar is easily viewable from my desk.
