Treasures 2008_31

Remember that the most beautiful things in the world are the most useless;
peacocks and lilies for instance.

— John Ruskin, The Stones of Venice, 1851

These are my Treasures for the past three weeks.

  • Waking up with a kitty

  • Watching a pigeon bringing twigs to build a nest, next door to the diner

  • A periwinkle blue Mercedes convertble. Periwinkle was one of my favorite crayon colors as a child.

  • Medjool Dates

  • The ravens across the street – gronk gronk gronkl

  • A woman in knee-high leather(?) boots with folded-over tops and stiletto heels, black mini dress with short flouncy sleeves. A bit much for 11am on a Saturday but she looked good in it.

  • Two mule deer does and their fawns, one quite young. Ahhh. Speckles!

  • The HMB Tweetup. Meeting so many people

  • swallows

  • a hot pink setting sun

  • Harney & Sons "Paris"" flavored black tea. Black tea with currant, caramel, and citrus. In a "single silken sachet". Yum.

  • two pelicans flying west at Skyline Blvd near our neighborhood. Ooh.

  • Watching the cat playing with the "ball in a track too. Pat. Rolllll. Pat.

  • fluorescent shoelaces

Treasures are positive things that strike my fancy, that make me feel happy or thankful or interested. Treasures are memories encapsulated in just a few words.
