I don’t do phone calls

Our phone doesn't ring unless the number is in a (very short) list of known contacts. Basically, Spouse or Self (if out of the house calling in from cell phone), my sister, his brother, my Mom…

Sometimes, when I send a note to customer service for some company, they write back to say "We think you should call us so we can give you personalized live service" (e.g. In this case, I would kindly request you to contact us over live medium… please use the phone number below….) <== I love that "live medium" thing.
I reply "I don't do phone calls".
They send me a link to a help page.

On Friday, I wanted to make a change to my Verizon account. I could chat to the Tech Support folks but they can't change my account. I had to call customer support. (Limited hours; 10 minutes left). So, I called.
The automated answering system said "Maybe you want tech support! You can use our chat/messaging service. We've texted you the link to the app. As soon as you start the chat, we'll terminate this phone call."
Even my cell phone company doesn't actually want me telephoning them, even for things I'm required to telephone for!

It's 2019. Email should be available for everything. Text/message/live chat should be the fall back. Telephone calls should be for personal calls with friends or urgent / emergency services.
