It's still Too Hot, so we took another road trip. This time, we went south, first to Twanoh State Park, where we were lucky to find a parking space! We waded in Hood Canal, watched tiny crabs scuttle under the very clear water, and enjoyed being cool and wet.
Next, we drove into Union, where we had lunch at a nice little Mexican Restaurant (2 Margaritas) and shared a great blueberry ice cream cone from the Union Country Store.
Further north, we stopped at Potlatch State Park, where I watched a lot of little crabs in the sand and had a nice conversation with two children (about 8 or 9 yrs old) who were also enjoying the little crabs.
Following 101 a bit further, we turned west into the hills and found Lake Cushman, a truly lovely spot for an afternoon dip. We hung out for over an hour. Rich swam. I bobbed up and down.
Our "water shoes" came in very handy today.
Finally, around 5:30 pm, we headed north a bit more, then east on 104, south on 3, and back to home where it was… still hot.
