In this house, the garage is two steps down from the main house. (Given that we've put the laundry area in the garage, that's a useful thing.

 

Anyhoo, there's a single concrete step just outside the door from the back hall to the garage. Step out, down, down again to the floor.

 

But it's a "normal" step, maybe 10" deep, so, with a door to your back, it's more, "step out quickly and down down lest the door smack your butt as it closes". On the way back in, it's "step up while quickly opening the door because you can't really stand on that step, your nose bumps the door".

 

I've not been happy with this arrangement.

 

Yesterday, Rich extended the step. The new step is 2ft deep, with plenty of room to stand on with the door closed.

 

I went in and out of the garage yesterday and every time I did, I said "I love my new step!"
