After the Steps Were Removed

There was a "void" under the largest hunk of concrete. The steps were not, as we had feared, entirely solid the whole way through.
While there was a small amount of (unexpected) rebar, it was just 4 pieces of "dowling" holding the back of the steps to the house. The concrete guys think this was to help prevent the steps from subsiding at all.
There's no dry rot on the siding behind the steps. The concrete was separated from the siding with a piece of sheet steel.
The siding on the house was painted before the steps were installed (possibly also protecting the siding.
Much as I do not like the "cat barf brown" paint, apparently, this house has been that color since it was built in 1985. I do appreciate that all we need to do is wash off the siding here, with no need to try to paint over green or grey or blue.
