So… I have a (rather large) package that I have been waiting for since it was put on the truck in Michigan on Oct 19.
It arrived in Tacoma at 5am on Saturday (10/23). From there, it will be handed off to a "local" carrier. And therein lies the rub.
The local carrier does not pick up on weekends. So, the package has been sitting in Tacoma since 5am Saturday.
The local carrier will pick it up "sometime this afternoon". And then, apparently, they will drive it to their main "terminal" in Port Angeles where they'll… log it in? Presumably.
And then, "sometime tomorrow", they'll call me and arrange to deliver it to me.
Assuming they take the bridge from Tacoma, they're most likely going to drive within 5 miles of my house on their way to Port Angeles.
The math:
- 4 days to transport ~ 2400 miles
- 2.5 days to sit in a "service center"
- 24 hours to transport ~50 miles
Sigh.
