When we left Rich and Vicki, they had packed their cats, and those belonging they weren't shipping, into two cars and started the drive north to Washington state. (previous post)
It gets dark early in November. I'm sure that we drove through some lovely scenery in northern Oregon, but it was too dark to see it. We got to Grant's Pass at 11:00pm.
I stopped at the Chevron station across the street from the motel and filled up the tank. Well, the attendant filed up the tank; I had forgotten that Oregon doesn't do self-serve gas!
Then to the motel. Check-in. So tired. We unpacked and fed the cats and fell over.
The cats wandered the room, then complained and hid in their crates or under the bed.
The next day started earlier and ended earlier, but we still drove into Seattle in the dark. From south of Tacoma to the exit for 90, the trip was awful. Traffic moved faster than I was comfortable with, so I was doing 50-55 (I know; I was in the right-most lane) yet felt like I must be doing at least 65. The other cars were doing 70, but it seemed like they must all be doing 80 or more. My eyes were bleary, shoulder hunched, muscles clenched.
FINALLY, we got off of 5 and… we were the only car on the off-ramp. We were one of only a few on Hwy 90. We were the only car on the next off-ramp. Then we were on city streets and eventually, in front of the house with the AirBnB apartment.
We got in a little after 6pm. We unloaded the cats first, then the interiors of the cars and the roof bags. Jessica (our AirBnB host) helped.
Then we closed the door, let the cats out, and Rich went to bed.
I found the food and put it away. Harley and Myffi explored.
I went to bed. Raven mooed for much of the night. Truffle slept by my head. Dandy hid in her crate.
