When we left Rich and Vicki, they had just made an offer on a house in Silverdale WA. (previous post)
On the following day, we did not tour houses. We played tourist and drove up to the Ballard Locks and walked around in the Botanical Gardens. On the way back, we missed a turn that the GPS wanted us to take, took the alternate route, and ended up driving past the Fremont Troll, so that was a win.
We located and wandered around in the PCC Community Market. We bought an early Thanksgiving dinner (turkey, cauliflower risotto, roasted Brussels sprouts, stuffing, gravy, cranberry relish, pumpkin pie…)
We went back to the AirBnB and took naps. In the early evening, we got a call from Susan. Our offer was accepted. We've bought ourselves a house!
(Way to bury the lede, Vicki. :-))
On Tuesday, we arranged to deposit "Earnest Money". That was fun:
– Title Company (at 10am): "Here is the information for the wire transfer."
– Bank: "If you print the form we're sending you, fill it out, sign it, take a photo of the signed form, and send it back through the secure messaging system by 11:30 am, we can do the wire transfer today".
We made the 11:30 time with 8 minutes to spare.
The inspection was Wednesday (Nov 25), the day before Thanksgiving. No major issues. The inspector was especially pleased with the cleanliness and dryness of the attic and the sub-floor "crawl space".
We accepted the inspection report, requesting a small credit for a few minor issues; the seller accepted our acceptance. The Title company kept working.
The title report came in this morning (Tuesday, Dec 1).
We should close tomorrow.
