We want to register the cars in WA state. Can't do that until we have WA drivers licenses.
We want to get DL in WA state. We need to "establish residency". Registering to vote will do that.
  1.  register to vote.
  2.  wait
  3.  Get voter card in mail
  4.  Go to DOL (Dept of Licensing) site. FIll out multiple pages of form.
  5.  Choose the nearest office.
  6.  Discover that there are no available appointments,.
  7.  Backtrack.
  8.  Choose a different office.
  9.  First available appointment is Feb 17. Take it! Quick!
  10. Then Rich says "That office doesn't do motorcycle endorsements".
  11. Sigh deeply and reply, "Let's just get the license first and then worry about the motorcycle. It's still winter."
