Rich and Vicki’s Great Adventure, part 4

When we left Rich and Vicki, they were packing, schlepping, and obsessing… (previous post)

On Oct 8, Appraiser #1 came, looked, took photos, and left.

We packed. We planned. We culled. We schlepped.

Rinse, repeat.

On Oct 13, Appraiser # 2 came (yes, the bank wanted two appraisals. With the one from Point, this house was appraised three times in three months. But appraisers don't talk to each other and it's all subjective anyway.)

On Oct 15, POD 1 was delivered.

We locked the cats into the sunroom. I carried boxes to the front door. Rich carried boxes to the POD.

Then I moved the cats to the bedroom and Rich took boxes out of the sunroom.

We packed. We planned. We culled. We schlepped.

Rinse, repeat.

We took a carload of computer stuff to Excess Solutions in San Jose. We ordered a second POD to overlap the first. We realized that everything would not fit into 2 PODs. We obsessed. We called a Moving & Storage company and reserved for them to come on Nov 9. Rich was convinced that no moving company would  be able to load all of our remaining stuff in less than 2 days, maybe more.

Connors Moving came to help us load heavy things into POD 2. They loaded the La-Z-Boy couch, two La-Z-Boy chairs, my desk, the glass cabinet, the gentleman's chest, the tv cabinet (with the tv) and several more things.

They were amazing guys and "Tony" made suggestions for how to orient things so that a lot more fit than we ever expected. Five Stars!!

College Hunks Hauling Junk came and took away half a truckload of stuff (the Hunks donate what can be donated, recycle as much of the rest as possible and then go to the dump. Very much the kind of operation we like to support.)

We had VM from the Title company about making an appointment to sign papers. On Nov 2, The Notary from the Title Company came by at 5:30 and we signed and initialed a bunch of papers.

On Friday, Nov 6, all of the paperwork was signed, sealed, and delivered… but not filed because the County of San Mateo doesn't record anything after 2pm.

Oh, bother.

That evening, the College Hunks came back for the second half truckload of stuff. (If you ever need a lot of stuff to be hauled away and really hope some portion of it could be donated, call the College Hunks in your area!)
